What is powder coating?
Powder coating is a coloring and protection technique used on most aluminum exterior products. It involves spraying powder paints onto the metal, which polymerize at a temperature of 200°. This process guarantees long-lasting, colorfast aluminum components.
The 3 phases of powder coating
1) Preparing the room to be painted
The aluminum element passes through various treatment baths to remove impurities and ensure perfect lacquer and color fixation.
2) Electrostatic powder coating
A polyester powder paint is then applied using an electrostatic process: a spray gun projects colored particles charged with static electricity onto the aluminum part, which attracts them like a magnet. This technique ensures uniform color penetration across the entire surface to be painted.
3) Polymerization
Once powdered, the parts are put into an oven at an average temperature of 200° for polymerization. This both hardens and stabilizes the colored powder.

MAINTENANCE OF POWDER-COATED ELEMENTS
Although long-lasting, aluminum exterior elements require twice-yearly cleaning to protect them effectively against external aggression that can damage the painted coating.
Simply wash the aluminum blades in lukewarm water with a soft cloth or non-abrasive sponge. For stubborn dirt, you can add a little mild soap to the water.
Caution! Never use :
- Products such as petrol, acetone, alcohol, etc., are not recommended.
- Sanding sponges or abrasives
- Pressurized jets
